Step Drill (Unibits)
Step Drills are often ideal for drilling larger holes in acrylic and some other plastics. Drilling Larger holes with standard drill bits in Acrylic require care and will often break the plastic due to the native design of a standard Drill bit. Quality Step Drills or Unibits eliminate the need for multiple drill sizes when properly drilling large holes and make the process easier and faster. Care should still be taken as not to get the drill hot as you do not want to melt your way through the plastic as it will cause an unwanted stress around the holes. Also do not push too hard when drilling as cracking of the material may occur on the exit side of the drilling process. The hole should appear reamed and smooth when complete.
These step drills are individually checked and sharpened for drilling acrylic.
